Korona Kielce confirms Rafał Mamla's injury and his absence against Omonia Nicosia

Korona Kielce announced that 22‑year‑old goalkeeper Rafał Mamla suffered a minor injury during a training session in Busko‑Zdrój and will miss the upcoming friendly with Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia on July 9 in Kielce.

What happened during the training?

During one of the sessions at the camp in Busko‑Zdrój, Mamla strained a muscle in his left leg. The club released an official statement stressing that the injury is slight and does not require long‑term rehab. Medical staff advised a few days of rest to prevent the condition from worsening.

Why does this matter for the coaching staff?

Coach Jack Zieliński is counting on Mamla being fully available before the PKO BP Ekstraklasa season opens on July 25 in Białystok against Jagiellonia. The goalkeeper’s absence from the friendly should not disrupt the preparation plan, as three more control matches remain – against Omonia (July 9), Stal Rzeszów (July 14) and Bruk‑Bet Termalica Nieciecza (July 17).

How does Mamla’s career at Korona look so far?

Rafał Mamla joined Korona in the summer of 2019 from Granat Skarżysko‑Kamienna. He started in the junior and reserve squads, debuting for the first team in the 2023/2024 Polish Cup against Legia Warsaw’s reserves (4‑2 after extra time). His Ekstraklasa debut came in the 2024/2025 season versus Widzew Łódź (1‑0). Since then he has featured in 17 league games, keeping four clean sheets and conceding 19 goals. In the Polish Cup he played three matches, allowing only one goal and posting two clean sheets.

What’s next for the preparations?

After Mamla returns to training, three final control matches are scheduled before the squad focuses on tactics and fitness ahead of the league opener. The club emphasizes that a short break will not jeopardize the goalkeeper’s form, and his experience from 24 official appearances (seven clean sheets) will be vital in the fight for points in the new season.
